Confession Of A tai tai wannabe

I was the happiest when A.L told me that I could quit my job & start a family. It was like a dream come true to be a tai tai. I missed out the wannabe part of course. However being jobless was a wonderful feeling, notice the usage of "was".

I thought being the wife of the S-League football player, I will be able to enjoy the luxury of high tea, spa & membership to exclusive clubhouses. Note: I failed to notice the difference between EPL & S-League.

In fact I am not that high maintenance girl or A-List spouse like some mentioned. I lead an ordinary life whose husband works hard to earn a living. Don't be fooled by my collection of Gucci, Prada & Lois Vuitton. Those were hard earned money from my past 10 years of working!

Initially when I quit, I thought I would be happy spending his money away. I was wrong! I watched his games most of the time. Every time he fell on the pitch and earned himself a free kick it actually pains me. If the whole world must know, my husband is a man who never complains of pain or hard work. Despite all this, he still comes home and entertain my complaint of the slightest headache. Selfish on my part.

One year of being jobless, I have seen for myself how hard he worked for the family. Tending to those injuries. Coping with his "bad boy" image with the media. It is not that easy. I can clearly remember the $2000 fine imposed on him for his vulgarities used on the national coach, it was during the last trimester of our pregnancy. Blamed it on his act, but that amount of money could easily cover CHILDBIRTH hookay. What happened to sympathy/empathy? Well at least he is not banned from playing. I dare not ask for much!

Someone had a conversation with me sometime ago.

Person: "What does your husband do for a living?"
Me: "Oh he is a footballer"
Person: "Oh who is he?"
Me: "Oh you wouldn't know him"
Person: "Is he David Beckham?"
Me: "LOL, Oh I hate to disappoint you, he is not. I don't mind becoming Victoria!"

Seriously, my husband is no Beckham. I am no Paris Hilton too, I do repeat my clothes. I do not live like a superstar. I may be fat now, but I do not ask for a personal trainer. I maybe struggling with household chores & motherhood but I did not ask for an extra hand. I may need hair treatment but I depend on Dove hair conditioner! I may need a good massage from a well known spa but I just go and find my kakak urut.

My dearest A.L, I do fear when your glory days will be over. When your days are over, I will still sing praises to Rayn of your achievements back then. Never will I forget those wonderful moments of yours. Even when you are no longer in the league, you will still be my hero.

I thank you for the past one year. Today I quit being a tai tai. Oh the "wannabe" tai tai I mean.
